Following the major success of co-op virtual reality titles such as Blaston and Demeo, multiplayer VR leader Resolution Games has unveiled a new trailer for Ultimechs, the studio’s upcoming “futuresport” VR title. In addition, the game is officially available for wishlisting on Steam beginning today.
The new trailer gives players a glimpse of Ultimechs’ 2v2 action as they battle it out in state-of-the-art machines designed for speed and power (they are very easy on the eyes, as well).
Looking akin to something like a hybrid of Rocket League, boxing, and any high-quality first-person shooter, the 2v2 battles pit one team against the other as they jump from platform to platform, shooting rocket-powered fist projectiles at a ball that they are attempting to send through a net to score points. Given Resolution Games’ attention to detail in all of its VR titles, there’s no doubt that pinpoint precision and fast reaction times will be the deciding factor for victories in the arena.
“Imagine guiding a missile and changing direction on-the-fly as you try to strike a target in mid-air at just the right angle,” said Tommy Palm, founder and CEO, Resolution Games. “That’s the Ultimechs experience. It’s about guiding rocket-powered fists to find that Superball sweet spot, knocking it out of your opponents reach and into the goal. With Ultimechs, we wanted to make something that was fast, fun, and always better with friends. Ultimechs is all about those moments that can only happen on a team, like setting up shots for your partner to rack up the points, or guarding the net while your teammate calculates their best offensive move. We’re looking forward to seeing some fierce competitions out there!”
Ultimechs is on track to launch on major VR platforms later this year, including the Meta Quest and Quest 2. And don’t worry – a 1v1 mode will also be available for you lone wolf type of pilots. Wishlist Ultimechs on Steam today, and stay tuned to Ultimechs’ Twitter, Facebook, and website for more major updates.
