Announced today, Team17 – known for its long-running Worms franchise – has revealed its newest title, Narita Boy, partnering with developer Studio Koba to release the retro action platformer. Inspired by 1980s, Narita Boy features “a narrative-driven adventure that takes players to a game inside a game, battling powerful bosses and overcoming puzzles in order to uncover the secrets of the Digital Kingdom and – ultimately – its creator.”
A love letter to the decade, Narita Boy shows off its 2D, pixelated, side-scrolling action in an official reveal trailer, which itself pays serious homage to the movie trailers of the 1980s, hitting viewers with a wave of nostalgia – at least, for those of us who were alive during the time.
