It’s officially our first birthday!
What started out as a brand new video game news and features site has… well, remained relatively the same as when it started. There’s a myriad of reasons why our inconsistent posts have consistently come and gone, but most of the reasoning boils down to two primary factors.
Probably the biggest factor is that when the site first launched, our lofty goals were a bit too lofty, especially considering our finite resources (or lack thereof). We were trying to be like all of the other major gaming sites out there, which is the exact opposite of why the site was created in the first place.
Over the past year, we’ve learned a lot as a team and will be putting those lessons to use… starting right now!
GamingPizza will still report on the major titles, topics, and trends within the gaming industry. However, we will be shifting our priorities to focus more on lesser known/covered indie games and the studios and developers who create them. This isn’t necessarily anything new for the site per se. It’s just that it will be much more of an active focus moving forward.
So, here’s the obligatory CTA for any and all indie game developers to reach out to us via email or Twitter if you’re interested in potentially having your game featured on the site!
On to the second reason for our lack of consistency on the site: life. You could count the current number of GamingPizza staff on one hand. The goal has always been to expand the site enough to bring on a full-time editing staff while paying competitive rates for freelance pitches, but we’re just not there yet. Rome wasn’t built in a day, right? Those foundational goals are still very much at the core of everything we do here, but with families, other jobs, and other priorities, our individual focus on GamingPizza will be as much as time (and life) will allow… at least, for the time being.
GamingPizza is very much still here, and we have lots of big (yet reasonable) plans for the coming year. So be sure to stay tuned to the site, as well as our Twitter, to be in the know. And THANK YOU so much for all of the support that you’ve given us already!
