If you’re looking for a new horror game to get you in the Halloween spirit, look no further than The Fridge is Red. This first-person horror anthology series from developer 5WORD Team and publisher tinyBuild takes inspiration from classic PS1 games to deliver a retro-styled horror experience that will have you on the edge of your seat.
PREVIOUSLY: 31 Days Of Halloween: Penko Park
You play as Frank, a dead-beat father who takes on odd jobs to provide for his family. One day, a mysterious red fridge is dropped off at his house and, beyond repair, he has no choice but to leave it in his basement. Little does he know that this fridge is going to turn his world upside down.
As you explore the everyday locations in Frank’s life, you’ll discover they have been taken over by disturbing creatures. It’s up to you to find out what’s behind these sinister forces and put an end to it.
The Fridge is Red is a throwback to classic PS1 horror games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil. The low-poly visuals give the game an eerie feeling that will send chills down your spine. And the sound design only amplifies the feeling of dread as you venture into the darkness.
“Part obscure game, part psychological experience, The Fridge is Red came from our ever growing desire to push the limits of a genre we enjoy so much ourselves,” stated Artem Kudriashov, lead designer, 5WORD Team. “Our inspirations came from other games, books, cult classic movies, leading us to create a terrifying mystery adventure combining different mediums into one.”
The Fridge is Red is now available on PC via Steam.
